Janus Rostock
Regional Design Director WS Atkins & Partners Overseas, Middle East and India
The architect behind the Dubai Opera, Janus Rostock works as a design director for Atkins with more than 20 years’ experience. Specializing in complex multidisciplinary projects and master plans, he has proven expertise in a wide variety of projects including the opera project and its district, master planning, low rise office buildings, high rise residential towers, hotels, education, and transport. He moved to Dubai and joining Atkins in 2006, where he was part of the team delivering the Dubai Promenade and Cape Town Waterfront master plan.  In 2008 he moved back to Denmark as Associate Design Director to start up Atkins’ Architecture and Design department in Copenhagen. Following this spell heonce again returned to the UAE in 2011 and is responsible for leading Atkins’ Middle East Architecture and Urban Design team. Rostock has accumulated extensive international experience as the lead concept designer on projects and master plans in the U.A.E, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, India, Azerbaijan, Angola, Kenya, South Africa, Norway, Sweden and Denmark
John Bricker
Creative Director & Principal - New York Gensler
John Bricker founded Gensler’s Retail and Branding studio in 1980, and has since played a pivotal role in the growth of the firm’s Lifestyle portfolio in both New York and San Francisco. He was instrumental in developing the Gensler brand into one of the most recognizable names in the design industry. He continues to develop our Firmwide Retail and Brand Design Practice Areas, expanding them into emerging markets in Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In addition to directing high-profile projects, John continues to look for new ways to seamlessly blend the digital and the physical, to create transformative experiences that move brands forward. Named one of the Top Retail Design Influencers of 2012 by design: retail (formerly DDI), John has been recognized by BusinessWeek, Interior Design, Contract and Hospitality Design for his industry-leading thinking. His projects have won numerous awards, including the prestigious BusinessWeek | Architectural Record award for his design of the New York flagship store for Toys ‘R’ Us. His projects have been published in nationally recognized publications including The New York Times, Interiors and Communications Arts.
Steven Charlton
Principal, Managing Director Perkins+Will
Steven Charlton forged a solid career foundation working in central London with blue-chip clients such as Credit Suisse, Jones Lang LaSalle and Latham & Watkins on large-scale HQ projects. He moved to the UAE in 2007, where he started at Hamilton’s as a senior designer. He quickly moved into business development ensuring the firm was aligned with client needs. Prior to his current role as managing director at internationally-awarded architecture firm, Perkins+Will, Charlton set up the UAE practice of another London based design group Artillery, before joining established London brand, Pringle Brandon. Pringle Brandon was acquired by Perkins+Will in 2012, becoming the Middle East office of the brand, with Charlton at its head. As Perkins+Will Middle East’s MD, with a number of large scale commercial, residential and hospitality projects under his belt, such as the F1 Abu Dhabi, ADIB HQ, and First Gulf Bank. Charlton built the team to over 100 committed professionals from five, within five years. Having experience in both the London market and the Middle East he is tasked with implementing Perkins Will’s unrivalled global experience in a market which is still maturing, offering ample opportunity for innovation and growth. Perkins Will’s has an enviable client roster, including companies such as Allen & Overy, MAF, Adidas Group, Ellington, LinkedIn Corporation, Oracle, Google, Microsoft, Coutts, and Emaar / Eagle Hills. Under Steven’s Management the firm has won numerous awards, including Firm of the Year at the Middle East Architect & the Commercial Interior Design Awards. The firm has also won Office Design of the Year for three of the last four years, a testament to the consistent quality of design.
Kang – Heui Cha
Executive Director of the Home Entertainment Design Lab LG Electronics
Kang-Heui Cha is the Head of the Home Entertainment Design Lab. At LG Electronics. He draws on for more than 25 years of experience in the field of industrial design and led the development of some of the company’s most successful design-oriented products: the Black Label Series, the Prada Phone and LG Signature TV. In the early 2005, Mr. Cha was named Chief Designer of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Design Lab. His inherent sense of art and industrial design led to the development of a string of innovative products that become market sensations; these include the Black Label Series, the PRADA Phone by LG. The Chocolate Phone, the first model in Black Label Series, became LG’s first 15 million selling handset.After being appointed head of the Home Entertainment Design Lab. in 2011, he won the Reddot Design Award for five consecutive years through innovative TV and AV product designs. And he recently designed the LG SIGNATURE TV, which won the Grand Prize at the Korea Good Design Award in 2016, and the W7 (Wallpaper OLED TV), which won The Best of Best at the CES in 2017. He is also vice chairman of KAID(Korea Association of Industrial Designers) and ESK(Ergonomics Society of Korea)
Justin Wells
Regional Leader Lifestyle - Middle East Woods & Bagot
Justin Wells is a registered architect who manages the Lifestyle Interiors Sector in the Middle East. Having taken up Senior roles over 20 plus years of experience, Justin leads exemplary design outcomes in his projects throughout Australasia and the Middle East. Experienced in award winning projects across all sectors of architecture and interior design, Justin’s focus is now on Hospitality and Lifestyle projects. Justin’s understanding of crafting long term relationships with owners and operators, is critical in the creative collaboration process. He has an attuned grasp of storytelling and how theatrics and the feeling of a space is paramount in the experience of guest and user. As a hospitality specialist, his reinvention of space and regular planning paradigms are explored to promote uniqueness of design for the client and operator. His affinity with each brand story is critical to this design process. Celebrated in the industry and media for his influence on Mena Hospitality, Justin has recently been accoladed in the top 10 Commercial Interior Designers  in the Middle East and is a regular speaker in the region.
Patrick Bean
Design Director Interior Lacasa
With a Master’s in Interior Design from Manchester University and over 22 years of hospitality design experience, Patrick Bean boasts an extensive and diverse portfolio. As the Director of Interior Design at LACASA, Patrick aims to achieve a balance of design, aesthetic and function while fully expressing his clients’ vision. His experience spans diverse markets including MENA, Asia, and Europe having worked on the Address Hotel on the Boulevard, the Radisson in Liuzhu, China, and the Marriott in Minsk.
